A week of sickness frustrations...

So, my plan was to learn ocs over the coming weeks and what happened? Yes, the whole family was caught by the dreaded stomache flu. Yes i know, too much information for a war gamer.

Anyway, i got some reading done, but i do not know if i am ready yet for ocs, it is a bit daunting. I have set up the game (reluctant enemies) and am in the process of pushing counters around to see what  happens in the different situations. I thought that would be the best approach to it.

I might also put it aside for a while, play some other games i have not played yet just to come back to it later on. We will see.. This blog is not all about me learning OCS, it is a bout my war gaming in general, so please do not be dissapointed if i suddenly post about some other game.

Happy gaming.

Great links for learning OCS

Just a quick update to give some links to good youtube rule walkthroughs of the ocs system.

First we have "EarlOf Chutney"'s 16 part series in learning RE, here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOxW5J6nEiueeqLZUYQ5ek4395qFfL-jk

That one is very good in the basics, short and on the point. It is a pity that the camera focus is none of the Earl's strongest points.

Then another i found is "Counter Attack"'s introduction to Burma. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQK4lSYgVde_d6T6TVFpuaEIfQxjSS8sX

That one is really great!

I am so glad that there is youtube and forums and what not. 25 years ago when i got interrested in wargaming there was no internet, then one had to use one's own brain. :-)

OCS, what in the world have i dragged myself into.

Bought some new games today, a used copy of Tanks vs Tanks, western front. Mostly to see if my kid want's to upgrade from OGRE or not. Gonna give it a try the coming days.

I also bought the latest C3i magazine which contained an introduction to the Unconditional surrender game. It seems really neat with that small map and all. I will definitly put that to the table in the future.

But I also picked up the masterclass, Reluctant Enemies from The gamers/mmp. I have watched a few video's and from what i can see it is not that hard. It is just a lot to remember. But it is a bit daunting to have approximately 60 pages of rules to read. Having a palm rest now after clipping some counters with a nail clipper, which reminds me of my somewhat crazy purchase of Blitzkrieg Legend.. It has about 1900 counters and i have no clue on how i am gonna trim those counter edges on that one...

So, i have set myself in a position i need to learn the OCS system. I want to learn it, and when i have, i recon no game will be a hard task.
